Squalane & Squalene

Both of these are substances that can be added to creams and serums to improve the texture.

Whats the difference?

Basically Squalane is derived from olive oil and squalene is derived from shark liver.

The spellings are very similar so keep a close eye on that as even in todays advanced society it is still possible to buy and use the bad one.

Squalene is also a naturally occurring substance in the skin, found in the sebum and is the skins own moisturiser. Which is where confusion can happen.

There are other reasons why squalene should not be used on the skin, it blocks the pores, it oxidises easily, its sharks liver.

Frankly, why would you want to put sharks liver on your face when a perfectly wonderful olive oil alternative is available.

Needless to say we do not stock or use any product that contains squalene.
